The chairs were seen as a potent vehicle for artistic expression and the team spent a significant amount of time ensuring that the design and the ergonomics complemented one another. The chairs were first hand carved in wood and then cast in bronze. The chairs were designed with a natural organic look that included the heron and the kingfisher to scale in the back rest of the chair. The aim in the design and manufacture of the chairs was to ensure that the chairs, table, floor, chandelier and weather vain all came together as a single piece, thereby fulfilling the client’s brief.
