The koi table is a project that John has been exploring about for a number of years. John's inspiration for the koi table happened 20 years ago, when he was travelling back to London from Wales. He stopped for petrol at a small filling station outside a stone built cottage on the Welsh English border.

John asked the owner if there was any where locally where he could get a bite to eat. The owner said yes certainly he would be happy to make John a meal in the cottage.

Whilst eating John noticed that there were quite a few obscure books on the shelves. One in particular on Koi fish caught his eye and John asked the owner where he could buy that book and to his surprise the owner said John could buy it directly from him.

So after filling up with petrol, eating and buying a rare book on koi the owner asked John if he would you like to see his collection of parrots. To Johns astonishment the man was breeding at least 100 different species of rare parrots of which he also had a book and John subsequently bought. This is how John became interested in koi fish, and with the koi table shown above John has realized the design idea that was formulated 20 years ago into this magnificent table.

Based on a traditional Japanese pond the richness of the colourful koi are captured in the pebble rock. The fish are made up of colourful agates set in a hollowed out sandstone base, shaped in the form of a pebble.
